LEARN MORE
The tools used by firefighters are as varied as the emergency situations they face. Beyond traditional tools like the axe or the fire bat, firefighters have an arsenal of specialized equipment. For example, extrication tools are used to free people trapped in crashed vehicles, while ventilation tools are used to evacuate smoke and toxic gases from a burning building. Wildland firefighters, on the other hand, use specific tools to fight wildfires, such as the Pulaski, a tool that combines an axe and a pickaxe, or the McLeod, a tool with three functions (rake, axe and shovel). These tools are adapted to each type of intervention and allow firefighters to act effectively and safely to rescue people and protect property.
The pump buckets have a capacity of 18 to 20 liters equipped with a pressure nozzle and weigh about 25 kg when full. It is used to extinguish small fires.
Commonly used tool for fighting fires, pulaski is an ax which is used to cut roots and small trees and to dig to build fire breaks and thus slow down the progression of small surface fires.
La drip torch 1L is ideal for creating backfires, lines of defense or controlled burns.
The cisterns, in areas where there is no water, firefighters use portable water tanks which are helicopter-borne.
